Vjesnik (The Herald)

Vjesnik (The Herald) is a monthly newspaper, published in Auckland from April to July 1946, mostly in Croatian language (there were a few short texts in English in each issue). Editor and publisher was Joseph Alach. Each issue had eight pages. According to the first issue, some of the Vjesnik‘s goals were to report independently on all events, to support the People’s Federative Republic of Yugoslavia and to connect all Slavs in New Zealand. At the end of the fourth issue, the editor explains the reasons why newspapers will no longer be published:  “large number of those who have harmed our unity”. The editor also announces a book that will “describe the work of our organizations and people”. It is unknown if the book has ever been published.
