March 25, 2024 In the newspaper Universitas, no. 173, vol. 15, from March 25, 2024, a review of the book Their Faraway Home was published. The author of the review is Monika Batur. Universitas is published once a month as a supplement to the newspapers Večernji list, Jutarnji list, Novi list and Slobodna Dalmacija. March 22, 2024 On March 20, 2024, Croatian Radio broadcast an interview with Ivana Hebrang Grgić on the Croatian Emigrant Press project in Glas Hrvatske (the Voice of Hrvatska). The 45-minute interview covered all important aspects of the project, from the creation of bibliographies and digitization, to the promotion of books published as the result of the research. The shorter version of the interview was also broadcast on the Globalna Hrvatska (the Global Croatia) on the 2nd program of Croatian Television on March 21, 2024. March 18, 2024 The 9th ICARUS Croatia Days conference was held in Osijek from 13 to 15 March 2024. As part of the conference, Ivana Hebrang Grgić and Nives Tomašević held presentation entitled The story of Croats in New Zealand through publications. The presentation presented the research that was carried out as part of the Croatian Emigrant Press Project, and for the purpose of publishing the book Their Faraway Home authored by Ivana Hebrang Grgić and Ana Barbarić, whose editor is Nives Tomašević. A book of abstracts from the conference was published. March 18, 2024 In Osijek, on March 14, 2024, the forum Sustainability in Literature and Sports: Marathon Runners in Literature and Science was organized by the Academy of Arts and Culture. Among other topics, the books Ni s kućom ni bez kuće and Their faraway home were presented at the forum. The forum was moderated by Nives Tomašević, PhD, and one of the guests was the co-author of the book, Ivana Hebrang Grgić. A report on the forum was broadcast in Dnevnik of the Osijek Television. March 6, 2024 Reports on the Heritage and New Horizons: Croatia and Croatians in a Global Context Conference were published, and in some of them researchers from the Croatian Emigrant Press Project were mentioned: February 24, 2024 In Sydney, research continued in the Croatian Studies library at Macquarie University, in the State Library New South Wales and in the Croatian Archives of Australia. Several book titles and one serial publication that are not available in Croatian libraries were found, records were made and online searchable bibliographies were supplemented. New negotiations regarding the digitization of publications have begun. February 24, 2024 As part of the Heritage and new horizons: Croatia and Croatians in a Global Context Conference, the book Their faraway home by Ivana Hebrang Grgić and Ana Barbarić was presented. The book was presented by Dr. sc. Rebeka Mesarić Žabčić, followed by a discussion about the book with one of the authors. A copy of the book was presented to the head of Croatian Studies, Ph.D. Jasni Novak Milić will be available in the Croatian Studies library at Macquarie University. February 24, 2024 The Heritage and New Horizons: Croatia and Croatians in a Global Context Conference was held in Sydney from 8 to 11 February 2024, organized by the Croatian Studies Foundation and Croatian Studies at Macquarie University, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Croatian Studies. At the conference, two presentations based on the work on the Croatian Emigrant Press project were held. Ana Barbarić held a presentation entitled Presentation and promotion of digitized library materials: an example of Australian Croatian newspapers, and Ivana Hebrang Grgić held a presentation entitled Researching Croatian publications in Australia: challenges of digitization. In addition to the presentation, Ivana Hebrang Grgić presented the exhibition They wrote in Glagolitic script at the conference… December 22, 2023 Ivana Hebrang Grgić and Ana Barbarić were guests on the TV show Dobro jutro, Hrvatska (Good Morning, Croatia) on Croatian Television on December 22, 2023. They presented the book Their faraway home and talked about the research of Croatian publications in New Zealand. December 12, 2023 The Dalmatian Archive and Museum, which is part of the Dalmatian Cultural Society in Auckland, publishes a newsletter once a month. In December 2023, the news about the lecture about Croatian publication in New Zealand and about the exhibition They wrote in glagolitic script… was published. Also, an invitation was published, which tries to involve the community in finding the newspaper Glas istine, which was published at the beginning of the 20th century, but not a single issue has been preserved to this day. Inspired by the exhibition They wrote in Glagolitic… text Merry Christmass was published in glagolitic script (in Croatian).
